Traci Hughes Jungkurth was a member of the gospel Singing Wills Family out of Arlington, Texas. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee as a teenager.  Professionally, Traci spent most of her young adult years in sales, marketing and promotion with the majority of that time working in network television with FOX and ABC affiliates.  Personally, she married Joseph Hughes in 1982 and was blessed with two sons, Joseph Christopher and Stephen Peter.

Her life changed course personally and professionally when the entire family was in a car wreck in 1996 and Christopher and his father Joseph were killed by a drunk driver. Traci and Stephen Peter survived the crash and she began serving in full time ministry.  Christopher Ministries was born out of the tragedy.

Changing courses required more education, so Traci completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1999 and her Master’s Degree in Counseling in 2003 at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio; the seminary is a division of Ashland University.

In the fall of 1998 Traci met and married Vic Jungkurth who was also widowed.  Vic was serving as the senior pastor of Columbus Baptist Temple in Columbus, Ohio at the time.  Traci has been involved with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization since the crash in 1996. Christopher Ministries and its mission to help hurting people in various ways by sharing the God of comfort is what Traci refers to as allowing God to put “purpose to pain”.

Her book, Lord, Why Am I Still Here? will make an impact like no other grief book available today. While most of the books written for the grieving person deal with the loss of one individual, Traci lost two, a husband and child at the same time. She survived the wreck for one reason: to point people to the King of everlasting hope, Jesus Christ.

Traci is a licensed professional clinical counselor and is licensed to practice in the states of Ohio, Tennessee, and Florida.  Currently, Traci and Vic live in Cape Canaveral, Florida where Traci is in private practice at Baytree Behavioral Health in Melbourne, Florida.
